From 1/7-1975 to 31/3-1976 I was called in a soldier at TMT Prinsens Livregiment in Viborg. TMT was a division that consisted of a 120mm heavy mortar equipped with up to 4 mortars, a calculator car and observers.
At that time we thought it was a total waste of time, but nevertheless there was a unity and competition spirit, which made us actually pass the final test with top marks.
When we were repatriated, we were told that when mobilizing we should show up in Viborg, after which we would then get further message. In 1976 there was still a threat from the east (we always called them orange forces), so there was a little seriousness in the matter. For our 25th anniversary in 2001 we got the end of the story. It was supposed that we had to go to the Kiel area and be part of a defense network that had to stop forces coming from the east. However, information from the east side after the fall of the Berlin wall showed that the first atomic bombs were planned for, among other things, to fall into Kiel. So it had been a short war if they had been so stupid to increase threat.
